Perfectly blending two of Daiwa’s key reel technologies, 20 Luvias is born. Sophisticated, subtle and classy, 20 Luvias is true to the famous name which Daiwa fans have grown to love over its long and famous history.

A new single-piece Zaion Monocoque (MQ) body design is the single greatest leap for Luvias since its introduction many years ago. 20 Luvias was designed to create the lightest Luvias ever, and the single-piece Zaion MQ body allows to not only make Luvias lighter, but also improve the strength and size of the drive gear at the same time. Using Zaion material allows an incredibly light body to be created, totally impervious to the harsh saltwater elements. Zaion’s lightweight carbon construction provides both incredible lightness, but also steadfast rigidity for long-term durability. The creation of Zaion MQ opens up a whole new world of small spinning reel design.

The new larger main gear is forged and meticulously machined using the Tough Digigear concept. Increasing the diameter of the gear not only improves strength, but also decreases winding inertia creating a more fluid, effortless rotation. The MQ screw-in engine plate applies 360-degree pressure to the main gear to achieve perfect gear alignment and meshing. The result is unmatchable refinement and flawless smoothness, today, tomorrow and long into the future.

Protection from the elements has been enhanced with a unique asymmetrical new screwless rear cover. This purposeful design minimizes intrusion into the body of the reel, while Magseal continues to deliver its unmatched protection by sealing the top of the reel body.

A new Long Cast ABS (LC-ABS) spool increases casting distance and line performance on and off the spool. Resulting in longer casts and improved line management. Further weight reductions from a re-designed Zaion Air Rotor and handle assembly continue on the path of the lightest Luvias ever.

Daiwa’s Automatic Tournament Drag (ATD) delivers flawless, silky smooth drag control with a larger re-designed drag knob improving control for anglers using the lightest of lines. Shallow spool models feature a decreased ‘finesse’ drag capable of very fine adjustment, perfect for light-line finesse fishing.

ABS-LONGCAST – Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been shown to increase the average flight distance by approx. 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape.

ATD-DRAG – Daiwa’s Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

CRBB – Lasting 12 times longer than standard stainless steel bearings Daiwa’s CRBBs feature specially treated stainless steel, and a protective shield on the bearing race that seals out sand, fine grit, salt crystals and other abrasives. The result is a longer lasting bearing that’s protected from the corrosive elements that destroy traditional bearings.

FINESSE DRAG – Designed for low start-up inertia finesse applications, and where minute incremental adjustment, and silky smooth consistent drag pressure is required.

INFINITE ANTI REVERSE – Daiwa’s advanced system that limits rearward backplay handle movement to almost zero for solid hooksets with less shock to the reel. The result is the elimination of handle slap-back and the unwanted release of line.

LT CONCEPT – LT (Light Tough) technology is based four key elements, Lighter, Tougher, more drag, and more bearings. Featuring a new compact body design and Tough Digigear LT reels introduce a new level of lightness and toughness to spin reel design.

MAGSEALED-BODY – Ultimate protection is delivered to the engine room of the reel with a magnetised oil seal located on the main shaft of the reel’s rotor shutting the door to the elements and unwanted intruders. Dust, water, and salt intrusion into the inner workings of a reel are a thing of the past with MagSeal.

MONOCOQUE – A one-piece frame eliminates the use of traditional two-piece body & sideplate construction. A single piece body utilises a screw-in engine plate to house the main gear, reducing flex and twist under load creating a sealed mechanism. The elimination of the side plate also has also allowed for a more compact body design. MQ technology not only makes reels stronger & better sealed, but also more compact.

ONE PIECE AIR BAIL – Daiwa’s innovative bail design features a hollow tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Featuring a smooth protrusion-free design and construction line easily slides unencumbered along the Air Bail towards the line roller for trouble free line control.

SILENT OSCILLATION – Silent Oscillation combines Digigear drive technology with dampening washes for noise free operation. Increased durability, and a reduction in reel noise are all achieved with Silent Oscillation.

ZAION BODY – A high-density resin and carbon material, Zaion resists corrosion, and exceeds the strength of traditional reel body materials such as magnesium and alloy.
